China General Nuclear Power company's (CGN) fourth unit of the Yangjiang nuclear power plant was connected to the grid on Sunday, the country's state agency, Xinhua, reported CGN as saying.
The company said that the fourth unit will now enter the final testing phase before it starts commercial operations.
Yangjiang nuclear power plant in the southern province of Guangdong already has six units in total. Its first three units are running commercially while the fifth and sixth units of the plant are still under construction.
All of the six units plan to be operational by 2019.
CGN currently has 20 nuclear power units under operation, with more than 20 gigawatts of installed power capacity.
