Italian energy company Enel and Saudi Arabian utility Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) signed a framework agreement to cooperate in Saudi Arabia's power distribution sector, Enel announced on Wednesday.
Under the agreement, the two companies will work together to develop long-term strategic knowledge sharing on the latest network technologies including smart grid and digital network technologies.
The duration of the agreement is three years, but could be extended if desired, Enel said.
The two companies will enhance the distribution networks’ performance in areas like operation, efficiency and security by exchange of information, best practices and experiences in the sector, Enel added.
This cooperation agreement will also introduce a technology roadmap, aimed at digitizing distribution grids and improving energy efficiency at customers’ premises, Enel said.
“Enel and SEC will also jointly evaluate further areas of collaboration in the power distribution sector,” the company added.
“We are very pleased to lay the foundations for cooperation with an important partner in a sector as key as network digitization, which plays a crucial role in the group’s current strategic plan”, Livio Gallo, Enel’s head of global infrastructure and networks said.
